Guest Designer - Sandra Botham

Introducing Our Dylusions Guest Designer - Sandra Botham

As you may have seen & heard Dyan talk lots about the lovely Dylusions samples that Sandra Botham does, We wanted to take time to do a blog post purely showcasing some of her wonderful New samples made with the New Dylusions Products. Aswell as her gorgeous samples We wanted to let you know a little more about Sandra and how she got into crafting and now teaching!

"My name is Sandra Botham and I am from Yorkshire, England, where I live with my husband and 2 children. I am a coffee addicted, book loving art journaler.
My art journal journey started by chance, in 2012, when I came across a blog by Kaz Hall. After seeing some of her journal pages I deceived I wanted to have a try. After reading several of her posts I found Dyan Reaveley and her studio/shop Art from the Heart. They were having a preview day a week or so later and I decided to head over. Although the taster sessions were all full there was so much inspiration and education to be had from looking around the shop and watching Dyan demonstrating. Also I got to look through her vintage ledger ❤❤❤ I left AFTH with 2 Dylusions stamp sets, 3 Dylusions ink sprays and a journal, oh and a overflowing crafty brain. I stared straight away and I have never looked back. From the very beginning art journaling just felt right to me, whether or not I am happy or sad is irrelevant it just feels right.
I became a regular at Dyan's art journal classes and have learnt so much from her. I guess the best part is that you are constantly learning. Along the way I have made some amazing new friends who have in turn all helped to shape my journey.

In 2014 I was so honoured to be asked to be a tutor at AFTH where I regularly teach workshops.
Whilst I love all aspects of art journaling especially collage work, I love to use the Dylusions range of products. The dylusions paints, ink sprays and stencils makes creating striking backgrounds so very easy. There is just something about all the quirky stamps that appeals to me and I find them so versatile and easy to use.  So much so that I set up a Facebook Challenge group, a monthly challenge for those who love working with the Dylusions range as much as I do. - Sandra Botham

Above Left hand Side Page - Sandra has decorated a Small Journal Page using Dylusions Paints London Blue and Postbox Red.  The Stencil is - Dylusions Stars
I love the patriotic theme! Fit for the Queen, hey?!

The Top Left Hand Side Page -  I love how she has stamped the New Foliage Stamp and coloured in using Delusions Ink Sprays, it looks really striking with the little doggy party!! Don't they look delicious?... I love the bunting across the page here! From Dylusions Stamp Set - Bags of Bunting

Introducing the second edition of Dylusions Postcards. Each pack includes 8 designs taken from Dyan's art Journals. These postcards are fun and eclectic and make a great collectables, note cards, or ephemera for art journals and mixed media projects. Postcards are 4"x6" and printed on heavy white gloss cardstock.

Above We have added the postcard to a large Dylusions #12 Journaling Tag. We have doodled around the postcard using the Dylusions Black Marble Paint Pen. The Green background of the tag has been decorated using the Dylusions Ink Sprays (It was a mop up tag, inked by moping up left over ink from another project!) and then stencilled using Dylusions Stencil Holes and Dylusions Cut Grass Paint. The stamps are from the New Dylusions Stamp sets; Words - Shut up and Colour. The Bulldog head Stamp is from Puppy Dog Tales and the body is from the Mini Me stamps set.... Don't they look brill when you mix the animal heads and bodies?

Here We have taken a Dylusions Square Journal Insert, We have painted and stencilled using the blocking technique with the following paints and stencils;

Dylusions Acrylic Paint, Slate Grey, Black Marble and White Linen
Dylusions Stencils, Stained glass, Modern Script and Fresh dots

We have stuck the post card down and doodled around using a combination of the Dylusions Black and White Paint Pens.
The Stamps We have used are the New Dylusions foliage stamp set, stamped onto Mixed Media Cardstock.

I love the simplicity of the black, grey and white with the postcard to add a pop of colour!

Here we have taken a Dylusions #12 Journaling Tag - Mixed Media The background of the Tag has been decorated using Dylusions paints; Bubblegum Pink, Lemon Zest and Squeezed Orange. New Dylusions Stencils used are Stained Glass, Diamond in The Rough and Fresh Dots.
We have then added a postcard & doodled around it using the Dylusions White Lien & New Postbox Red Paint Pens. We have then added the matching stamp form the New Dylusions Mini Moo stamp set. I really love the glossy texture of the postcards.

Above We have taken a Dylusions #10 Journing Tag - Black and stencilled direct onto the tag using the Large Dimond in the Rough Stencil and Dylusions Calypso Teal Paint, We have highlighted some of the diamonds with White Line Paint Pen. We have then added the postcard and doodled around the postcard and tag using the New Dylusions Squeezed Orange Paint Pen. The Mini cat is from the New Cat amongst The Pigeons stamp Set, The saying 'Mirror Mirror on the wall, what the frikk happened' is from the New Dylusions Shut up and Colour Stamp Set.
The Wing has been stamped direct onto the Adhesive Canvas sheets - Blank with Black Archival Ink Pad.

Perfect for journaling and mixed media techniques and ready for use on pages in art journals, cards and mixed media projects. The Adhesive Canvas images include artwork taken directly from the journal pages of Dyan. Thses unconventional and eclectic designs are a great addition to your projects.

The above tags are both made using the Dylusions #10 Journaling Tags - Mixed Media, The Adhesive Canvas has been stuck on and then stitched around using a sewing machine, we love the texture and dimension this adds to the tags. Using the New Dylusions Puppy Dog Tales stamp set the Bulldog head has been added to the Bassett Hounds body and his lovely hat is from the New Dylusions Mini Me stamp set!... Doesn't he look rather dashing?!!

Here we have used a Dylusions Small Journal Insert - mixed media, The background has been made using the block technique using a blending tool with Dylusions paints; Bubblegum pink, Lemon Zest and Squeezed Orange. You may recognise the dog from the New Dylusions Puppy Dog Tales stamp set and his legs are made from the stem on the Doodle Bloom stamp set when have then added his slippers back on! The saying 'I'm sick of people they're everywhere'... Isn't it great? is from the New Dylusions 'Shut up and Colour' stamp set.

Above We have taken a Dylusions #12 Journaling Tag - Mixed Media, again the background has been decorated using the blocking technique. Here we have used Dylusions Pomegranate Seed paint, Funky Fuchsia and Bubblegum Pink. The Pomegranate Seed is a deep red but I just love it mixed in with the pink, I think they look really yummy together!

We have then added one of the New Dylusions Canvas Sheets, Stitched around it using a sewing machine. We have then stitched a border down the left hand side of the journaling Tag. The Saying "I'm sick of people they're everywhere' and Wings have been stamped direct onto the Dylusions Blank Canvas Sheets, cut out and stuck down. We have stitched the wings and left the adhesive backing on them so that the curl up slightly.
The Hearts at the bottom have been cut out of the canvas sheets and stuck on.

Here we have taken a Dylusions Journal Insert Page - Small - Black. Painted using Dylusions Slate Grey, White Linen and Black Marble paints. The stencils We have used are; the New Stained Glass, new Modern Script and the Small Direction Stencil.
On this one instead of sticking the whole image We have cut it out and then cut little hearts and dots.. Don't they look cute? Again the words have been stamped direct onto the Blank Canvas, stuck down and stitched using the sewing machine.

Again We hope you have enjoy them as much as We enjoyed making them!
